Gill Books and Graphic Designer Graham Thew collaborate with artist Maser for This Is It book cover

We are delighted and excited to be publishing meditation teacher Conor Creighton’s forthcoming book, This Is It, a memoir and meditation guide that is a searingly honest and at times hilarious account of Conor’s struggles with anxiety and how discovering meditation changed his life.

In partnership with the artist Maser, Conor brought The Dublin Boys Club to Ireland in 2019. Founded in response to rising suicide levels, anxiety and depression amongst men, its objective is to help men learn how to communicate better with each other and grow into the most authentic versions of themselves.

Gill Books and graphic designer Graham Thew have collaborated with Conor and Maser to create this special cover for This Is It. The cover encompasses a dye-cut dustjacket that, when removed, reveals an original abstract print especially created by Maser. It is inspired by pictures Maser took of the landscape and plants of the Ticknock mountains while on a walk with the Dublin Boys Club.

This Is It will be published by Gill Books on Friday, 2 April and is available to pre-order now from easons.com.

About This is It

This is It is a practical meditation guide that uses humour to teach the benefits of mindfulness through a series of accessible techniques. It’s also a hilarious account of one man’s attempt to find peace in a chaotic life, and follows his journey from the bogs of Kildare to the bright lights of LA, and on to enlightenment in India. However, despite travelling the world he found that much of the wisdom he discovered had parallels in Irish attitudes to life, that there’s an intersection between ancient wisdom and what Irish people lick off the stones. Now a meditation teacher in Berlin, Morocco and Dublin, Conor gently and skilfully explains the lessons he’s learned along the way to finding peace, and with warmth, wit and wisdom guides you on the path to a more mindful life.

Conor says ‘I hope my book shows folks that they are not alone. Life’s a bit of a shitshow. This is a fact. Becoming happy and ok with that takes a lot of work. But there are really good tools available. And if I could do it, then you most probably can too.’

Conor Creighton is an Irish meditation teacher. He has studied in monasteries and centres in India and California. He teaches courses throughout Ireland, from art studios to prison yards, corporate boardrooms to GAA pitches, and more recently in collaboration with the artist MASER. He is also an award-winning journalist whose work has appeared in The Guardian, The Irish Times, and Vice Magazine. He is the former editor of Totally Dublin magazine.
