Write for Us

Gill Books welcomes submissions from first-time and experienced authors alike. Please note that we only accept proposals for non-fiction and children’s; we are not currently accepting adult fiction, poetry, short stories or plays. In general, we are most interested in books of Irish interest.

Submissions should comprise the following:

  • a descriptive outline or synopsis of the work, highlighting any unique features (not more than 500 words);
  • a table of contents and/or chapter outline;
  • three sample chapters, or the first fifty pages;
  • a brief author biography, outlining your qualifications for writing the book and the connection to your potential audience; and
  • your contact information.

You should submit your name, contact phone number and email with your submission.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you keep a copy of your submission and any accompanying documentation, safely. Gill Books will not accept any responsibility or liability for the loss of, damage to or accidental erasure of your submission or any part of it.

All submissions made by you to Gill Books for consideration for publication must be entirely original, previously unpublished and must not infringe the intellectual property rights, including (without limitation) copyright, of any person. Gill Books hereby disclaims all liability for any claims made by you or any third- party arising from any submission you make to Gill Books.

All proposals are given careful consideration by the editorial team. Due to the volume of submissions we receive, please allow three to six months for a response. We are not in a position to offer editorial feedback at the submissions stage.

We strongly encourage you to submit via our online portal; however, if you must send us a physical hard copy, please follow the above guidelines and send your work to: Submissions Department, Gill Books, Hume Avenue, Park West, Dublin D12 YV96. Please do not send us original material.
