Calling all Aislings... this is #AislingDay 2019!

A gathering of real life Aislings got together this week to promote Aisling Day, which happens this Thursday, 12 September. Aisling Day marks the publication of Once, Twice Three Times an Aisling, the much-anticipated third instalment of Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen’s phenomenal bestselling series chronicling Aisling, the beloved small-town girl living in a notions world.

To celebrate the book’s nationwide release, publisher Gill Books has teamed up with Eason on Dublin’s O’Connell Street to give away a free copy of the new book, along with copies of the first two in the series, to the first 50 people named Aisling who come to the store between 12–2 p.m. on Thursday, 12 September. (All spelling variations of the name are welcome, but photo ID is essential!) The first 50 Aislings also get a Complete Aisling tote bag with an exclusive Complete Aisling Field Day candle.

The ten Aislings photographed were recruited through social media and photographed in traditional Aisling dress: shumper (that’s a shirt and jumper in one – so handy!), pencil skirt, sensible flats and anorak – all courtesy of Aisling’s favourite place to shop, Penneys (the glamour!). They were also treated to an exclusive advance copy of the book.

Authors Emer and Sarah will be on hand to sign the books in Eason from 12–1 p.m. this Thursday, and then on to Dublin Airport at 3 p.m., where they will be whisked airside to sign more copies of the new book in WHSmith.

The first two books in the Aisling series (Oh My God, What a Complete Aisling and The Importance of Being Aisling) have sold over 254,000 copies to date, making them the bestselling Irish-published fiction titles of the 21st century.

Emer and Sarah say: ‘We can’t wait to meet a few real life Aislings as we kick off our book promotion week. We’re excited and nervous to see how people respond to book three. Word from advance readers has been positive (we can promise you a cracking ending!) and we are already working on book four. We hope everyone enjoys Aisling’s continuing adventures in adulthood as much as we do!

The third instalment of the book is subtitled ‘It’s her party and she’ll cry she wants to’. Aisling is nearly 30, and she’s still a complete Aisling. On the face of it, life is good: business is booming, family life is settling back into comfortable normality, James Matthews is interested in taking things further, preparations for Majella’s wedding – and hen – are well underway, and Ballygobbard is buzzing with rumours of its first celebrity wedding … For those around her, everything is falling into place.

So why can’t Ais escape the feeling that something, somewhere, is missing?
