The Nation’s Favourite Food from the nation’s favourite chef!

Neven Maguire is Ireland’s most trusted chef. He travels the length and breadth of the country every week doing cookery demonstrations and meeting people who enjoy cooking and want to improve their skills. He finds he is always asked the same questions, regardless of the person’s level of skill or experience in the kitchen: What’s your recipe for a good everyday brown bread? What easy, healthy recipes would be good for my child’s lunchbox? Do you have a failsafe recipe for chocolate cake? How do you cook the perfect steak? And so he was inspired to write this collection of the best recipes for every day food – tried, tested and perfected by the nation’s No. 1 chef!

While many of us like to experiment with our cooking, as even Neven admits himself, we always come home to the classics – simple, tasty recipes that you know will work. These recipes will become your reliable friends in the kitchen after a busy day, whether you are feeding a tired family or entertaining.

Each section contains 5 absolute classics, so you won’t be overwhelmed by choice, but rather, you will be inspired to learn the recipes off-by-heart as you make them over and over again. If you learn just one dish from each section, you will have 20 perfected recipes in your repertoire and be well on your way to wowing in the kitchen.

Destined to become a classic, The Nation’s Favourite Food will become the most hard-working thing in your kitchen – so you don’t have to be.

Neven Maguire studied catering in Fermanagh College in Enniskillen before going on to train in some of the highest-profile restaurants in the world. In 2001, Neven took over the family business, MacNean Restaurant, turning a local establishment into a national phenomenon and in 2012 published the highly acclaimed MacNean Restaurant Cookbook. Neven presents the top-rated cookery show on RTÉ, Home Chef. He lives in Blacklion, Co Cavan with his wife Amelda, and twins Connor and Lucia.

The Nation’s Favourite Food is published by Gill Books on Friday 25 October, priced at €22.99.
