Tomás Ó Sé Publishes Autobiography

In his new autobiography, The White Heat, football legend Tomás Ó Sé writes candidly about his upbringing and time in the Championship cauldron and life as a member of Ireland’s greatest sporting dynasty.

The book offers a unique insight into life as a member of the great GAA dynasty that includes Tomás, his uncle Páidí Ó Sé and brothers Darragh and Marc, and what it feels like to eat, sleep and bleed football, something that’s abundantly clear in a scene where Tomás recalls how he and his brothers went to training the night after their father was buried.

Tomás also reveals his views on the controversial sacking of Páidí Ó Sé in 2003 and the perception that he didn’t get on with his new manager Jack O’Connor as a result, he talks about how the pressures in his personal life contributed to angry outbursts on the field as the demands of the game became more difficult to cope with as he got older, and recollections of his beloved uncle Páidí add fun and high jinks to the narrative with hilarious accounts of meetings Tom Cruise, Dolly Parton, Charlie Haughey, Martin Sheen through his famous pub in Ventry.

The White Heat will be published by Gill Books on Friday, 23 October 2015, priced at €22.99. The book will be officially launched by Paul Galvin at The Brehon Hotel in Killarney on Sunday, 25 October 2015.
