Domini Kemp and Patricia Daly Have Discovered A Life-Changing Way of Eating

What do you get when you take a chef with an interest in nutrition and a nutritional therapist with an interest in great food, both of whom have battled their way through cancer?

In The Ketogenic Kitchen Domini and Patricia share with you exciting nutritional developments which reveal that a diet low in carbohydrates and high in fat, in conjunction with the treatment recommended by medical professionals, offers new hope and protection against many chronic illnesses. This food philosophy also has the welcoming side effects of weight loss and management, higher energy levels and glowing good health.

Whether you are facing treatment, going through recovery or simply want to choose food that helps to keep you healthy in the long term, Domini and Patricia’s fantastic new book will be your best friend in the kitchen, packed with revolutionary advice and delicious recipes. The authors also share their startling personal stories of battling cancer and their research into ground-breaking new ways to feed your body for optimal health.

The book is divided into two sections. ‘The Low-carb Way’ contains lots of easy low-carb recipes bursting with flavour and nourishment that will guide you on your path to optimum wellness. ‘The Ketogenic Way’ contains meal plans, recipes and comprehensive scientific information about the benefits of a ketogenic diet, with warm, friendly and sensible advice to help you through periods of illness, recovery and treatment.

Domini: My interest in health and nutrition has always been with me, since my first brush with cancer right after the birth of my first child. After reading Dr Servan-Schreiber’s Anticancer book about diet and all the studies about disease from around the world, my interest started to grow even more. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, I went on a mission to see how I could best support my system through a gruelling regime of treatment. I was relieved and delighted to have got through things as well as I did and I put a lot of my well-being during treatment down to good diet and exercise, which supported my system so that the excellent treatment I was undergoing could have the best results. The advice you are given about diet when you get a diagnosis is mixed and not always up to date. It was during this period that I met Patricia, and I was simply blown away by her knowledge and the cutting-edge advice she gives her patients.

Patricia: In 2008 I was diagnosed with a rare form of malignant melanoma in my eye and after completion of conventional treatments, I was longing to find tools that would help my recovery. I started to study nutritional therapy and learned about the benefits of dietary and lifestyle changes, but in 2010, shortly after the birth of my first baby, I relapsed. Because conventional treatments had many side effects and I was at risk of losing my eye, I embarked on a ketogenic diet in April 2012. Ever since then, my eye and eyesight have been stable, the side effects have reduced dramatically and the tumour is dead. I have seen unbelievable results with dietary and lifestyle changes in many other cancer patients who choose a low-carb or ketogenic diet. Research is getting stronger and it’s time to make the science of low-carb and ketogenic diets accessible and practical for anybody interested in trying it.

The Ketogenic Kitchen will be published by Gill Books on Friday 22nd April, priced at €29.99.
