Alison Canavan

Alison Canavan is a health and wellness expert, parenting columnist and motivational speaker. After nearly two decades as one of Ireland’s most successful international models, she returned to Ireland in 2010 and has since devoted her career to nutrition and health and wellness, with a strong focus on mental health. In 2015 she graduated with Distinction from the Irish Institute of Nutrition and Health (IINH) as a health and wellness coach (Advanced Diploma in Diet and Nutrition Therapeutics) and is continuing her studies in this field.

Alison has a weekly parenting column in the Daily Mail, a travel column in the Mail on Sunday and has written for VIP magazine. She regularly contributes to other national and international newspapers and publications, and is a popular guest on various TV and radio shows, discussing issues from parenting to health, mental health, wellbeing, beauty and fitness.

She is an ambassador for Walk in My Shoes, a national awareness and fundraising campaign that seeks to empower people with mental health difficulties across Ireland. For detailed information on Alison, her work, her interests and her speaking engagements, see www.alisoncanavan.com.

Alongside her professional interests, Alison is a passionate humanitarian and in 2006 spent time in Calcutta with Goal founder, John O’Shea. Her current charitable focus is to donate her time and services to charities for children, including Barnardos, for which she is a proud ambassador, and Make-A-Wish Ireland. She is also a serving ambassador for Walk in My Shoes, alongside Adam Clayton and Brent Pope, which is a national awareness and fundraising campaign that seeks to empower people with mental health difficulties across Ireland.

Given her wide and varied professional career, Alison has become a much sought after motivational speaker, host and panellist, addressing CEOs and business leaders across the country as well in universities such as Trinity College Dublin. In June 2014, she chaired and spoke at the first ever Barnardos Parental Mental Health Conference in Ireland, at Croke Park. This work is hugely fulfilling and as a result is becoming a greater part of her career and life.
