Seán Kelly

Seán Kelly was formerly a secondary teacher and for three years was President of the GAA.


Actively involved in GAA administration from an early age, he moved up the ranks from East Kerry, County, Munster, and onwards to National level, becoming the President of the GAA in 2003. He was the first Kerryman to hold the office and was elected by a record margin. During this time he oversaw completion of Croke Park and the opening of the stadium to soccer and rugby.

He was elected as a Fine Gael candidate at the 2009 European Parliament election for the South constituency.
