Performance Nutritionist to Ireland’s Elite Sports Stars to Publish Cookbook Sharing his Recipes for Achieving Your Personal Best

Daniel Davey is the man who fuels many of Ireland’s elite athletes. A performance nutritionist for Leinster Rugby and the Dublin senior footballers, he shares his recipes on social media to an audience of over 65,000 eager fans from his FoodFlicker accounts and now, on 20 September this year, Gill Books is to publish his first cookbook, which shares the nutritional secrets for gaining a competitive edge.

Daniel says I have seen first-hand how consistently eating good food can lead to trophies, personal bests and incredible physiques but the good news is that it’s not just in elite sport that tremendous results can be accomplished through the right diet. Anyone can feel and perform better with the right food choices and I want that information to be accessible to everyone. In Eat Up, Raise Your Game I have translated the science of nutrition into simple recipes and information for achieving your personal best. The recipes and information are easy to follow and can be personalised to whatever your goals are.

The recipes are divided into lower carbohydrate, lower calorie recipes for rest and recovery days and higher carbohydrate, higher calorie recipes to energise and fuel your body on exercise days. You will learn to compliment your food choices with physical activity and meet all your nutritional requirements, depending on your individual needs.

As well as the recipes, Daniel shares his food philosophy, his 10 suggestions for long-lasting and sustainable habits, and answers to questions he gets asked on a daily basis, covering everything from calories, macronutrients, food timing, and supplements.

Backed up by the latest scientific literature translated into easy-to-understand practical information, these simple and delicious recipes will help to raise your game and feel energetic, healthy, fit, strong and confident so you are primed to achieve your personal goals, whatever they may be.

Praise from Daniel’s clients

Daniel opened my eyes to the importance of nutrition to my performance. My diet and work with Daniel was integral to my return from long-term injury. His passion for food and gaining an edge is infectious and has driven us all to be better athletes. Bernard Brogan – Dublin senior footballer

I always looked for an edge when it came to my preparation for performance, and nutrition became a core element of this later in my career. It was mainly due to the support, education and guidance from Daniel Davey. The key things he helped me with were managing my fuel intake around training, adding variety and spices to my meals and the importance of meal preparation in maintaining a healthy and balanced diet for performance. Nutrition is more than just eating well. It is a lifestyle choice and a lot of it is down to good habit formation. Daniel also helped me form the habits I needed to perform at my peak. Paul Flynn – Dublin senior footballer

Daniel not only gave me an insight of what was needed in terms of nutrition for performance but explained it simply and backed it up with incredible detail. He is by far the best performance nutritionist I’ve worked with in my 14 years as a professional athlete! Sean O’Brien – Irish international rugby player
