New edition of standard guide for Irish genealogy addresses how the internet has revolutionised tracing our ancestors

16-03-2012 10:45

Since its first publication in 1992, Tracing Your Irish Ancestors has become the standard guide and reference for Irish genealogy. The fourth edition retains the familiar three-part structure but addresses the revolution in the availability of online records that has happened in the last five years.

Online research is now an essential part of any Irish family history project and this book integrates detailed guides to Irish online records at all stages, discussing individual websites and outlining research strategies. The sheer scale of digitisation can make it both easier and more confusing to do research, making a guide such as this all the more essential.

All of the information has been expanded and updated, and the addition of an extensive index makes the book even easier to use. This new edition has a 20% increase in content over the previous one.

An essential tool for anyone thinking of researching family history, Tracing Your Irish Ancestors is both a straightforward “how-to” for beginners, and a detailed reference work for people with some experience.

Tracing Your Irish Ancestors is published on 23 March 2012, priced at €22.99.
