It’s Friday – stop checking the emails and firmly close the door on the working week!

04-10-2013 12:00

The relaxed vibe of the weekend is the inspiration for Catherine Fulvio’s new cookbook, The Weekend Chef. With a successful cookery school and B&B to run, as well as media appearances and festival events to attend all over the country, Catherine Fulvio decided to make a concerted effort to keep the weekends sacred where possible.

Bringing a more relaxed attitude to weekend cooking helped to change the busy tempo of the working week and here she shares her recipes for all the best things about the weekend: reading the newspaper over a leisurely brunch, baking on a rainy afternoon, candlelit dinners with friends, Sunday lunch with all the family, and perfect TV dinners for movie night or watching the match.

We all need to recharge, and we’ll be happier going back to the Monday to Friday routine if we’ve spent the precious weekend unwinding.

Catherine’s recipes encourage us to forget about the midweek humdrum. Forget about express meals. Close the door, turn the music on and fire up the cooker – it’s the weekend!

The Weekend Chef is published by Gill Books will be available Friday 11th October, priced at €22.99.
