New book teaches practical and effective ways to prevent and tackle bullying

Stella O’Malley’s new book Bully Proof Kids launched this week in The Glasshouse in Birr on Tuesday and in Hodges Figgis bookshop in Dublin. Katherine Lynch summed up the importance of Bully Proof Kids by saying "Stella wants to make our society kinder and her work makes us feel safe, Bully Proof Kids is a ground breaking book that will help give young people the tools to tap into their inner power".

Bullying is often cited among the top fears that parents have for their children. In her new book, Bully-Proof Kids, psychotherapist and bestselling author Stella O’Malley gives practical advice on how to equip children with the social skills they need to be prepared if and when bullying arises.

O’Malley investigates not only the role of the bully and the target, but also highlights the untapped power of the bystander. In addition to this, the book is up-to-date with advice on how to avoid and deal with relatively new phenomenon such as sextortion and cyberbullying.

Stella uses case studies from her work to highlight the multitude of factors and situations out of which bullying can occur. We meet 16 year-old Richard* who was the victim of bullying after his shorts fell down in the school changing rooms. And Sandra* who discovered that her 14 year-old son and his friends had become involved with a sordid older man who had lured the boys in by promoting himself as a Steve Jobs- type head honcho.

Dealing with bullying can feel overwhelming, crushing and relentless. In writing Bully-Proof Kids, Stella shows that it is manageable, and that a solution is always available.

Get your copy of Bully Proof online with Eason, Amazon, the Book Depository and in all good bookshops nationwide.
